Let's competing with what Figma is doing
The time / fashion has come, to prove how fast people in my industry (software development) will be replaced by AI. There are more and more sellers of visions of the future. Well, for me it's ok, I observe, I listen, but I try not to comment. I think it is better to spend time adapting, developing, providing value to others. This will always be needed. Talking about the future is somehow cheap. The market doesn't care. What matters is the effect of work, excel calculation, KPIs, profits, growth, etc.
I also notice another thing to accept. The market likes monothematicity. In order to get someone to pay attention to your project you must necessarily throw in a current “buzzword”. Today it's “AI agents,” yesterday it was “AI” itself, and even earlier it was “crypto.” Instead of talking about evolution, people like to talk about revolution. People in various areas around modern technology, especially in IT, like to use the phrase “this will change everything”.
It's time now for my confession - I want to use this phrase because I believe I'm doing something that gives me the right to use it. What is it? I am working on three things:
- versioning system for design systems;
- component specification for design systems (regardless of the language used);
- component generator according to the above specification.
Imagine that no matter what language you develop software in, you have a spec that allows you to generate code for React, Go or even PHP, plus import the component into Figma. By changing it with Figma, you change the code in the language of your choice and track the changes.
I'm excited that this is competing with what Figma is doing, for example. There are more and more great no-code, low-code tools and there will be more and more AI-generated ones - it's super cool to compete!
The next few months will be a very intense time for me doing tests, doing demos, validating ideas and technology - selling. And guess what? I am able to take this risk and not add any buzzwords to what I am doing.
It's going to be fun!
